Postdoctoral position in nuclear theory at the University of Zagreb

01 October 2020

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow (4 years, full-time) in theoretical nuclear physics. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research in description of exotic nuclear structure, dynamics and processes relevant for astrophysics in the framework of relativistic nuclear energy density functional.

Interested candidates should apply before October 26, 2020. (See link: https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/560205 )

Azrieli Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship for research at Israeli universities

01 October 2020

This competitive fellowship is for two years, extendable to three years.

We are offering to apply to this fellowship for performing research at Tel Aviv University (TAU). The successful candidate's research program will include: • Advanced RF ion trapping studies at TAU, within a TAU and JLU Giessen joint project towards future measurements of neutron capture cross sections of short-lived fission products • Participation in exotic nuclei experiments in collaboration with the FRS Ion Catcher Group at GSI/JLU Giessen and at the University of Jyvaskyla.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Low-Energy Experimental Nuclear Physics at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

15 September 2020

We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to play a major role in conducting nuclear physics experiments utilizing the surrogate reaction method, radioactive beams and charged-particle/gamma-ray spectroscopy to constrain neutron capture cross sections for nuclei far from stability. This research is vital to improving our understanding of the formation of the heavy elements via nucleosynthesis processes. The work will utilize radioactive beams at TRIUMF in the near term and FRIB in the longer term. The responsibilities include setting up and participating in experiments, performing data analysis, working with theorists to obtain neutron reaction rates, and interpreting and publishing the results.

Any questions about this position can be directed to Richard Hughes (hughes61@llnl.gov).

The position will remain opened until filled.
