Neutron and Gamma Beams

Working Group Conveners

Aaron Couture (LANL) and Keegan Kelly (LANL)

Overview

This working group highlights the continuing advances and contributions made to nuclear physics through direct measurements of neutron- and gamma-induced nuclear reactions. Data from monoenergetic and continuous-energy (white) neutron source facilities form the backbone of the neutron reaction database, and the capabilities for emitted particle detection from these reactions are continuously evolving to meet the needs of the basic and applied nuclear physics communities. Direct gamma-induced reaction measurements serve as unambiguous sources of nuclear structure data and much more. The complementary nature of these direct measurement mechanisms with modern advances in radioactive ion beam facilities provides an indispensable and expansive coverage of nuclear properties for the nuclear physics community.
