Post-Doctoral Researcher in Physics and Astronomy (Experimental Nuclear Physics) at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, USA

21 May 2020

The low energy nuclear physics group at Ohio University is inviting applicants for a position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in nuclear physics. The position will consist of nuclear astrophysics research in collaboration with faculty members Zach Meisel and Carl Brune. The postdoctoral research associate will be based at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) on the campus of Michigan State University. Primary duties will include assisting in the commissioning of the Separator for Capture Reactions (SECAR) recoil separator located at FRIB, as well as leading SECAR experiments and the subsequent data analyses.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Nuclear Chemistry, or a related field. Required skills include demonstrable knowledge of principles and techniques pertaining to nuclear science and experimental research, experience with computer programming for the purpose of acquiring and analyzing data and for the comparison with model predictions, and the ability to work amongst a team, including the supervision of students. Familiarity with low-energy radioactive and stable ion beam experiments is desired.

Applicants are invited to submit a cover letter and a CV that includes contact information for three references. The full posting and application portal are located here: https://www.ohiouniversityjobs.com/postings/34790. All questions should be directed to Zach Meisel (meisel@ohio.edu).

Review of applications will begin starting June 6, 2020 and will continue until the position is filled.
