The Department of Physics and Faculty of Science at the University of Regina invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor who would be nominated for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in subatomic physics phenomenology. The position is not contingent on a successful CRC application. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022.
The Department of Physics is a leader in subatomic physics research with established programs in neutrino physics (T2K and Hyper-K), beyond the Standard Model phenomenology (MOEDAL, CERN), hadron structure (Jefferson Lab and the Electron Ion Collider), nuclear structure and astrophysics (TRIUMF), neutrinoless double beta decay (LEGEND), and applied nuclear science (Fedoruk Centre). We are seeking a subatomic physics phenomenologist to join our dynamic and collaborative department and develop a vigorous externally funded research program that is complementary to our existing research activities, will strengthen our role in national and in international projects, will open new avenues for future collaboration and will provide essential theoretical support for our experimental faculty.

Postdoctoral Fellow Position at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Nuclear Science Division has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the team. In this exciting role, you will take a central role in the development and implementation of a general machine learning framework to be applied to two of the Division's premier experimental apparatuses: the superconducting ECR ion source VENUS and the world-leading gamma-ray spectrometer, GRETA.
What You Will Do:
• Through collaboration with scientists, technicians, and engineers, become familiar with the safe operation of both GRETA and VENUS.
• Participate in the establishment of the means to control and obtain data from VENUS and GRETA in preparation for the application of machine learning to these systems.
• Participate in the development of a machine learning framework that will allow for the computer-driven control and analysis of GRETA and VENUS.
• This framework will be made generalizable enough to be applied to other Department of Energy accelerator-related systems.
• Develop, test, benchmark, and tune communication and machine learning frameworks so they may be used reliably.
• Perform experiments with the established machine learning framework on systems associated with both GRETA and VENUS.
• Prepare and publish manuscripts based on this research.
• Report results to supervisor.
• Exercise independent judgment and contribute in an original manner at the professional level.
• Publish papers/reports in refereed journals, and make oral presentations of your own work.
What is Required:
• Ph.D. in Physics, Machine Learning, Computer Science or related discipline within the last three years.
• Experience with data analysis and computer programming in Python and/or C, and a familiarity with machine learning techniques.
• A demonstrated ability to perform research individually and as part of a research group.
• Ability to work productively within LBNL's diverse research environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and publish original research.
• Effectively present research results in seminars and at scientific meetings.

• Experience handling large data sets.

• This is a full-time 2 year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience. Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.

• Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.

Tenure-track Faculty Position in Theoretical Nuclear Physics at Ohio University

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Theoretical Nuclear Physics beginning in August 2022. The initial appointment is partially funded by the FRIB Theory Alliance, We seek a colleague who will establish a vigorous, independent research program that contributes strongly to FRIB Science: the fundamental interactions of nuclei, their structure and reactions, and their origin in the universe. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field by the start date of the position. We encourage applicants with a strong record of independent research and some postdoctoral experience to apply.
The department includes 26 tenured faculty, 70 graduate students, and 80 undergraduate majors. We are dedicated to educating undergraduate and graduate students through their participation in a diverse and inclusive departmental community. The successful candidate will therefore be an effective classroom teacher and supervisor of student research and will interact with students and colleagues in ways that promote equity and inclusion.
The new hire will join our Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics. The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Louisiana State University invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor in the area of subatomic theory, starting August 2022. Candidates are expected to have an established record in the areas of subatomic theory, nuclear astrophysics, and/or fundamental symmetries, and to build a competitive research program that complements the strengths of our existing programs.
