Nuclear Theory Postdoctoral Positions at Argonne National Laboratory
27 November 2017
The following announcement for two nuclear theory postdoc positions at Argonne is also posted at:
http://www.phy.anl.gov/theory/positions.html
Position Description:
The Theory Group in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory has a broad-ranging program in modern hadron and nuclear physics. The Group's research places strong emphasis on comparison with data from existing facilities, e.g. ATLAS at Argonne, FermiLab, JLab, NSCL, TRIUMF and RHIC; and on planning for and anticipating the output of future facilities; such as FRIB and an EIC. The Group also has access to extensive National and Laboratory computational resources. The Group is now seeking exceptional candidates for two postdoctoral positions that, contingent upon funding, would begin in Fall 2018. We expect that one position will be in computational nuclear structure and reactions, supported by our SciDAC-4 grant. The other position may be in any area of modern hadronic or nuclear physics.
Information on our group and its research activities can be found at our home page . We urge those interested in these positions to examine and consider seriously the information provided on these pages. The successful applicant will have research interests that complement ours.
Position Requirements:
The positions are for one year, with the probability of extension for an additional year, contingent upon funding and performance.
To formally apply, applicants must complete the following steps:
Complete a basic application and profile at this link: http://bit.1y/1Jr4Zmc in reference to requisition #403451.
(This requisition # may not be available for a few days, but you may proceed to step 2 without delay.)
Email a curriculum vitae and a clear, concise, one-page statement of research interests to:
R. B. Wiringa
Physics Division
Argonne National Laboratory
Argonne, IL 60439-4843
USA
email: ANLPHYTheoryPD@phy.anl.gov
and also arrange for three letters of reference to be EMailed to this address.
All application materials should be sent in either plain text or PDF. Completed applications received on or before Friday 8 December 2017, will receive our fullest consideration.
As an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer, Argonne National Laboratory is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace that fosters collaborative scientific discovery and innovation. 22 November 2017
The University of Pisa (Italy) has issued a call for one researcher position in Theoretical Physics within the Department of Physics "E. Fermi". The position is open to any researcher in the field of theoretical nuclear physics, high-energy physics, including lattice QCD and string theory, mathematical physics, and statistical physics. The deadline for application is December 4, 2017. We ask you to spread this information among your colleagues and potential strong candidates, especially those working in theoretical nuclear physics.
The researcher (type "ricercatore universitario di tipo a - junior" - RTDa) will have a full time contract for the duration of three years with mainly research duties and some teaching duties (essentially one course per year, about 60 hours of teaching). The position can be considered as a senior post-doc position, by international standards. However, it is not a tenure track position.
