Scientist position iThemba LABS

04 November 2019

iThemba LABS seeks to appoint a scientist (experimental nuclear physics on a five-year contract basis). The application portal and details can be found here: https://nrfintra.careerjunction.co.za/jobs/view/2341184

Postdoctoral Position at National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory

30 October 2019

The National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) invites applications from outstanding candidates for a fixed-term research associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) position in the area of experimental nuclear science, who will work in the research group of Prof. Jaideep Singh.

The successful candidate will work in the NSCL Spinlab group under the direction of Prof. Jaideep Taggart Singh, whose members focus on the tests of fundamental symmetries and precision measurements. Amongst others, Spinlab develops techniques to optically manipulate and probe atomic nuclei. The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in the development and testing of a new general-purpose high-efficiency molecular beam source for use in electric dipole moment searches using rare highly-deformed nuclei. This work is part of the US DOE Office of Science Early Career Research Program Award titled “Towards a Next Generation Search for Time-Reversal Violation Using Optically Addressable Nuclei in Cryogenic Solids.”

Postdoctoral Position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

16 October 2019

We have a postdoctoral position open in the Nuclear and Particle Physics Group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The successful candidate will play a major role in carrying out experiments that use trapped-ion samples to precisely study the beta decay of 8Li, 8B, and other light nuclei to test fundamental symmetries in nuclear beta decay and to better understand the structure of exotic nuclei. These experiments will be performed at radioactive beam facilities such as ANL and TRIUMF and the data analysis will involve the development of detailed simulations and an in-depth characterization of the apparatus.

This is a 2 year Postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension to a maximum of 3 years. Eligible candidates are recent PhDs within five years of the month of the degree award at time of hire date.

To apply for this position, or for additional information, please follow the link https://careers-llnl.ttcportals.com/jobs/4675640. Any questions regarding the position can be directed to Aaron Gallant (gallant3@llnl.gov) and Nicholas Scielzo (scielzo1@llnl.gov).

Review of applications will begin November 8th, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.

Two post-doctoral positions iThemba LABS

03 October 2019

The DST/NRF funded South African Research Chair in the Subatomic Physics Department at iThemba LABS has two post-doctoral fellowships available, for which applications are invited to apply. The research focus of the Post-Doctoral researchers will be on experimental studies of photon strength functions/nuclear level densities or on gamma-ray decay of resonances. The Post-Doctoral researchers will further play an active role in mentoring Master and Hons students. The full advert and application portal can be found here: https://nrfintra.careerjunction.co.za/jobs/view/2335145

Postdoctoral Research Position at the University of Tennessee

27 September 2019

The Experimental Nuclear Structure Group at the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position in the experimental low-energy nuclear physics program. The successful candidate will be involved in the research on beta-delayed neutron emission using VANDLE neutron detector array. The candidate will also be included in the construction and operation of new generation neutron detector with tracking capabilities. The experimental program will be carried out in US national laboratories and laboratories abroad.

The UTK group has a demonstrated excellent track record in experimental nuclear structure studies of nuclei far from stability and an active program in digital data acquisition systems. The candidate should have demonstrable experience with experiments at accelerator facilities, as well as excellent skills in programming and data analysis. The position is available immediately.

Applicants should apply on-line at https://ut.taleo.net/careersection/utsystem/jobdetail.ftl?job=19000001R7&tz=GMT-04%3A00&tzname=America%2FNewYork

http://hr.utk.edu/recruitment/ Please provide your CV with a list of publications. Two letters of recommendation are requested. Any questions regarding this posting can be sent to Prof. Robert Grzywacz at rgrzywac@utk.edu.
