We are therefore looking for candidates with experience in experimental nuclear physics and a strong interest in applied problems (especially in nuclear energy). Knowledge of semiconductor-based detection systems, data analysis and instrument simulation is required (see position description). This position will come with a financial environment of 200 k€ to hire PhD student or post doc for example.

Mississippi State University (MSState) has a unique opportunity to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor focusing on building a research program at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) in low-energy nuclear physics or nuclear astrophysics. This position is in the first cohort of FRIB Experimental Bridge Faculty positions and aims at growing the local nuclear physics group at MSState while expanding the research profile at FRIB. The position is expected to start for the beginning of the Fall Semester 2024, subject to candidate availability.
Performance Objectives:
The candidate is expected to: 1) perform research in experimental low-energy nuclear physics or nuclear astrophysics at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), helping enhance and broaden the research activities of the low-energy nuclear physics group. 2) Keep up the department's tradition of excellence in sponsored research involving students, teaching, and service. 3) Contribute to the department's mission of maintaining a respectful environment, free from harassment while striving to ensure equal opportunity for all in in research, teaching, and/or service.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Ph.D in experimental nuclear physics or a closely related area. • Knowledge of nuclear physics, and the ability to perform nuclear physics experimental research by utilizing the state-of-the-art facility at FRIB.

The Chemistry Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work with the low-energy nuclear structure group at the UK Accelerator Laboratory (UKAL). Most of the research will be performed at the university's 7 MV Van de Graaff accelerator facility, however, project travel to larger facilities such as TRIUMF and HIyS to perform complementary experiments is also anticipated.
Related topics in nuclear spectroscopy, neutron-induced reactions, and neutron scattering are the focus of the research program. This includes selected studies in forefront areas such as: nuclear structure relevant to double-beta decay, shape transition of nuclei, collective excitations and shape coexistence, as well as precise & accurate neutron scattering cross sections for the development of advanced nuclear reactors, homeland security, and other applications.
