The University of Pisa (Italy) has issued a call for one researcher
position in Theoretical Physics within the
Department of Physics "E. Fermi". The position is open to
any researcher in the field of theoretical nuclear physics,
high-energy physics, including lattice QCD and string theory,
mathematical physics, and statistical physics.
The deadline for application is July 31, 2017.
We ask you to spread this information
among your colleagues and potential strong candidates, especially
in those working in theoretical nuclear physics.
The researcher (type "ricercatore universitario di tipo b - senior" - RTDb)
will have a full time contract for the duration of
three years with mainly research
duties and some teaching duties (essentially one course per year,
about 80 hours of teaching).
At the end of the three years, if the researcher has obtained the
"abilitazione scientifica nazionale" (national scientific abilitation,
see http://abilitazione.miur.it/public/index.php?lang=eng or
http://abilitazione.miur.it/public/index.php?lang=ita), she/he will be
automatically hired by the University of Pisa as associate professor.
Therefore, this RTDb position is equivalent to a tenure track position,
by international standards.

In particular, the admission procedure requires:
-Ph.D. (or equivalent title)
-12 publications will be evaluated by a committee to form a shortlist
-interview
Expected start: end of year 2017
The net salary will be approximately 42 kEUR per year (gross salary).
The researcher will have access, as the other members of the theory
group, to funds for travels, both from the University of Pisa and
from INFN - Pisa branch.
