Three ERC-funded postdoctoral positions at the University of Jyväskylä

Three postdoctoral researcher positions are now open in the ERC Consolidator Grant project MAIDEN “Masses, Isomers and Decay studies for Elemental Nucleosynthesis” at the University of Jyväskylä. The project focuses on neutron-rich nuclei relevant for the astrophysical r process. Applicants with previous experience in mass measurements, decay spectroscopy or ion catcher gas cells are particularly encouraged to apply. The positions are for two years and can start earliest June 1, 2018.

The Experimental Nuclear Physics Research Group at the University of the West of Scotland has internationally recognised research programmes studying the structure and properties of exotic nuclei. Our research is primarily conducted at large overseas facilities such as JYFL (Finland), Legnaro National Laboratory (Italy) and ISOLDE (CERN). We were one of the founding members of the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, SUPA, which is the pioneering research pooling initiative in physics in Scotland. We are presently seeking to strengthen the nuclear-physics research group with the appointment of a permanent academic staff member at the Lecturer level.
The successful applicant will be based on the Paisley Campus of the University of the West of Scotland and will contribute effectively to research, to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to academic administration. Part of the role may involve the design and development of new undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
A successful track record of research in experimental nuclear physics and a strong publication record are essential. The successful applicant will contribute to nuclear-physics research within the group and develop and lead new programmes of research. The successful applicant must be willing to travel and to work at international nuclear-physics laboratories where necessary.

Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at the University of MAssachusetts Lowell
The 2018 Principality of Monaco/ITER postdoctoral fellowships are now open for application.
In January 2008, a Partnership Agreement was signed between the ITER Organization and the Principality of Monaco to set up a Postdoctoral Fellowship program. Since then, five young scientists from the seven ITER Member countries or from the Principality of Monaco have been appointed every two years, and—over a period of two years—are trained in research areas related to the ITER Project. In January 2018, the Agreement was renewed for ten years, and a new recruitment campaign launched.
The principal motivation of the Research Fellowships is the development of excellence in research in fusion science and technology within the ITER framework. Brilliance and creativity, together with understanding of the relevance of the individual research interests to the ITER Project are a key requirement.
The Monaco/ITER Postdoctoral Fellowship Program allows young researchers to participate in one of the great scientific and technical challenges of the 21st century and to work closely with leading experts in fusion science and technology within a unique international framework. Qualifications
Your PhD was awarded after 1 January 2015 or you are about to obtain one.
You would like to carry out a research project and to participate in publications of high-quality journal articles in fusion science and technology.
