Post doctoral fellow position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at University of Notre Dame

Nuclear Science Lab at the Department of Physics University of Notre Dame invites applications for a post-doc position in experimental research in nuclear astrophysics and nuclear structure. The successful candidate will join the groups of Prof. Anna Simon and Prof. Manoel Couder. They will be involved experimental nuclear astrophysics, in particular proton and alpha capture reactions for a variety of stellar environments. They will be involved with a range of gamma-ray detectors and electromagnetic separators. The successful candidate should have a strong background in experimental nuclear physics, programming and data analysis, and Geant4 simulations. Knowledge of statistical model codes will be a valuable asset. An interest for hands-on and construction activities is a plus.

Three ERC-funded postdoctoral positions at the University of Jyväskylä

Three postdoctoral researcher positions are now open in the ERC Consolidator Grant project MAIDEN “Masses, Isomers and Decay studies for Elemental Nucleosynthesis” at the University of Jyväskylä. The project focuses on neutron-rich nuclei relevant for the astrophysical r process. Applicants with previous experience in mass measurements, decay spectroscopy or ion catcher gas cells are particularly encouraged to apply. The positions are for two years and can start earliest June 1, 2018.

The Experimental Nuclear Physics Research Group at the University of the West of Scotland has internationally recognised research programmes studying the structure and properties of exotic nuclei. Our research is primarily conducted at large overseas facilities such as JYFL (Finland), Legnaro National Laboratory (Italy) and ISOLDE (CERN). We were one of the founding members of the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, SUPA, which is the pioneering research pooling initiative in physics in Scotland. We are presently seeking to strengthen the nuclear-physics research group with the appointment of a permanent academic staff member at the Lecturer level.
The successful applicant will be based on the Paisley Campus of the University of the West of Scotland and will contribute effectively to research, to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to academic administration. Part of the role may involve the design and development of new undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
A successful track record of research in experimental nuclear physics and a strong publication record are essential. The successful applicant will contribute to nuclear-physics research within the group and develop and lead new programmes of research. The successful applicant must be willing to travel and to work at international nuclear-physics laboratories where necessary.
