Tenure-track position in Experimental Physics at San Diego State University

THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS http://physics.sdsu.edu/ at SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY http://www.sdsu.edu/announces a tenure-track position in EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS at the assistant professor level with the appointment beginning Fall 2022. The Department has strong efforts in the areas of optics, condensed matter, theoretical/ computational physics (nuclear physics, astrophysics, general relativity, and soft matter), and medical physics. Overlapping interests with any of these research areas are welcome. The Department offers a bachelor's and master's degrees in physics and a Ph.D. in computational science jointly with the University of California, Irvine.

Postdoctoral Fellow Position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

We are looking to fill a postdoctoral fellow position in the BeEST collaboration at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in precision nuclear recoil spectroscopy. We seek a candidate with extensive experience in cryogenic or low-temperature physics with a focus on quantum sensing in subatomic physics.
The successful candidate will install, test and operate superconducting tunnel junction (STJ) quantum sensor arrays in a liquid-cryogen-free dilution refrigerator. The PDF will be expected to lead the LLNL experimental effort and make independent contributions to the search for physics beyond the standard model with the BeEST. This fellow will have the opportunity also to spend 25% of their time to pursue independent research for career development. This position is in the Rare Event Detection group of the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
